Order your Business Class meal online with Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines is to offer its Business Class passengers the option to order a specific meal online for their flight. The airline will introduce the Business Class meal reservation service, on its website, for passengers traveling on its longhaul routes.

JAL have developed a wide range of food options across all their cabins and this new service will continue to improve the onboard dining experience in Japan Airlines “exclusive restaurant in the sky”.

The online meal service reservation service will be available on all Transpacific, Europe, Southeast Asia and Oceania routes. You’ll be able to begin booking your meals from the 6th April  2016.

The service is available for Honolulu flights departing on and after the 12th April and for the other select international flights departing on and after the 1st June 2016.

To book passengers just need to visit the JAL website and press the “Meal Reservation” button on the reservation detail screen of the booked flight.

Order Business Class Meal Online With Japan Airlines

There are a few restrictions for the Business Class meal service:

  • The meal reservation service is not eligible for breakfast on flights departing at midnight.
  • Reservations, changes and cancellations of in-flight meals are not available by telephone.
  • If you change your flight reservation you will need to rebook the in-flight meal (online) for the new flight.
  • If you use award tickets or upgrade award reservations booked on the JAL overseas website then you need to log in with your JMB member account on JAL website for your region to make online meal reservation.
  • If you use revenue tickets you have to make the meal reservation on JAL website for Japan region.
  • For outbound flights from Japan you need to reserve your meal 25 hours before scheduled departure time.
  • For inbound flights to Japan you need to reserve your meal 48 hours before scheduled departure time.

This new meal service allows you to reserve the first Business Class food service during each flight from either the Japanese menu or from a Western menu (beef only).   Other Western meals (seafood, chicken, etc.) will not available when this Business Class meal reservation service begins.

Air New Zealand begins Buenos Aires flights from Auckland

Air New Zealand has begun Buenos Aires flights after touching down at the Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza, Argentinians.

Flight NZ30 departed from Auckland at 7.20pm last night and arrived in Buenos Aires at around 7.00am this morning New Zealand time, after a 12 hour flight across the Pacific. The inaugural marks Air New Zealand’s first scheduled service linking New Zealand and South America.

In a colourful mix of cultures, passengers disembarking today’s flight – including special guests Air New Zealand ambassador Richie McCaw and Associate Minister of Tourism Hon. Paula Bennett – were treated to a rousing Whakatau welcome and a display of Argentinian tango dancing inside the terminal.

Sharm el-Sheikh security measures to be improved as UK flights grounded

After British flights were grounded from Sharm el-Sheikh, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said that passengers will be returned to the UK tomorrow. Additional security measures are supposed to be taking place by British aviation and security experts.

Britain grounded all UK – Sharm flights following UK and US intelligence suggesting a bomb may have downed the Russian jet in Egypt.

Mark Lowen, a News Correspondent currently at Sharm el-Sheikh Airport said information for passengers was still not available as emergency security measures are put in place.

Airlines have changed their flight plans to and from Sharm el-Sheikh as they work to rearrange fliights and bring passengers home.

British Airways has postponed its flights to and from Sharm el-Sheikh until Friday at the earliest.

EasyJet has cancelled all flights to and from the Sharm  and future flights are “under review”.

Thomas Cook has cancelled all flights to Sharm el-Sheikh until the 12th November.

Thomson Airways and First Choice, have cancelled all outbound flights to Sharm el-Sheikh up to 12th  November.

The Irish Aviation Authority said it had directed  all Irish airlines not to fly to or from the area until further notice.

Air Canada begin Boeing 787-9 flights between Toronto and Delhi

Air Canada has inaugurated its new service between Toronto and Delhi with the departure of flight AC070,. This new route offers the only non-stop flight between Canada and the Indian subcontinent. It is also the first route to be flown specifically by the airline’s latest aircraft, the Boeing 787-9.

The new Toronto Delhi route will operate four times a week. It will then become a daily service in 2016, using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner featuring Air Canada’s award-winning three-cabin configuration. This cabin layout includes the next generation lie-flat seat in International Business Class, a Premium Economy cabin and a spacious 3-3-3 seat layout in the Economy cabin. There are also enhanced seatback In-Flight Entertainment system available at every seat throughout the aircraft. Flights provide for Aeroplan accumulation and redemption and, for eligible customers, priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounge access in Toronto, priority boarding and other benefits.

Etihad Airways will add Mumbai to A380 flight route from May 2016

Etihad Airways will begin to operate its award-winning Airbus A380 between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai from the 1st May 2016. This additional destination will add to the airline’s other A380 routes to London, New York, Sydney and, from June 2016, Melbourne.

There is a growing trend with airlines looking to develop increased services to India as part of their global expansion. Etihad will operate a daily service, flight EY204, from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai, and EY203 from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi. Both flights will carry the 9W code of Etihad Airways’ strategic partner Jet Airways. These flights will connect with the airline’s other A380 flights to New York, allowing guests to experience the double-decker aircraft throughout their journey.

Qatar Airways to begin Adelaide flights with A350 in 2016

Qatar Airways today unveiled the launch date of yet another exciting Australian destination, with daily non-stop scheduled flights between Doha and Adelaide due to commence on the 2nd May, 2016. The airline has embarked on a major expansion in Australia, just recently announcing the launch of daily flights to Sydney from the 1st March next year.

Adelaide will be the first destination in Australia to which Qatar Airways will fly its state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, for which it is the Global Launch Customer. At last! Disruptive passenger gets £5K invoice as airline gets tough

It looks like airlines are beginning to get tough with unruly behaviour. After an incident last year, with a disruptive travelerone charter airline has taken steps to recoup its costs for the diversion to a French airport and dealing with the incident.

Jet2.com has issued disruptive passenger, Grant Marshall, with an invoice for £4,809 for additional costs incurred in diverting its aircraft following his offensive behaviour on-board a flight to Alicante in May.

Following the launch of the airline’s Onboard Together programme, which took off last month to take a zero tolerance stance against increasingly disruptive conduct associated with air travel, Jet2.com has taken steps to reduce issues with such behaviour.

Disruptive Passenger

The company tracked down the drunken and unruly disruptive passenger. An invoice of almost five thousand pounds to cover the costs of his unacceptable behaviour has now been issued. Mr Marshall has also been given a lifetime ban and Jet2.com is intending to prosecute him for the disruption caused.

Phil Ward, Managing Director of Jet2.com said: “To protect the safety and comfort of our loyal customers and staff, we openly pledged to take actions to stamp out antisocial behaviour onboard and that is exactly what we are doing.  Jet2.com is a holiday airline, so we want holidaymakers to have a wonderful time from the moment they start their holiday with us.”

“More than 1,150 passengers were inconvenienced that day by Mr Marshall’s antisocial and unacceptable behaviour.  This is why we issued him with this bill for the costs involved. Most passengers have a fantastic time travelling and of course know how to behave onboard, which is why we need to stop disorderly behaviour from the few like Mr Marshall.”

Mr Marshall was one of a party of 14 who, on a flight from Leeds Bradford Airport to Alicante on 29th May 2015, was asked numerous times to stop consuming illicit alcohol, using foul language and threatening behaviour. Due to his unruly actions, which are becoming a serious issue for the travel sector as a whole, the aircraft captain diverted the flight to Toulouse to protect the safety of the passengers and crew. The disruptive passenger was off-loaded and handed over to the police authorities.

Qatar Airways has begun flights to Zanzibar

Qatar Airways has launched its second new destination of the year, touching down in the Spice Island of Zanzibar. This new destination is the airline’s third route in Tanzania, following Dar-es-Salaam and Kilimanjaro.

Qatar Airways will initially operate five weekly flights to Zanzibar via Kilimanjaro, and commencing 1st October 2015, the airline will offer an additional two weekly flights making it a daily operation. Out of the daily flights from October, passengers will be able to fly non-stop to Zanzibar three-times-a-week and on a linked flight via Kilimanjaro four-times-a-week.

Qatar Airways is using an Airbus A320 in a two-class configuration on the Zanzibar-Doha route. This two class cabin A320 has 12 seats in Business Class and up to 132 seats in Economy. Each seat offers an interactive audio and video entertainment system featuring up to 1,000 options of movies, TV programmes and music channels.

In addition, passengers can remain connected with friends, colleagues and family on the ground with an SMS text messaging service using their mobile devices.
