Etihad’s Chief Commercial Officer wins top Sales and Marketing Award

Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Baumgartner, has been voted ‘Sales and Marketing Manager of the Year’ at the 2009 Aviation Business Awards, an annual awards program which celebrates and pays tribute to the people and organisations who have established the GCC as an industry leader on the global stage.

Peter Baumgartner was recognised for his role in helping to build Etihad’s world class global brand and for his unrelenting focus on product and service offerings. The award is the latest in a string of prestigious awards the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and its staff have collected recently, including the World Travel Award for ‘World’s Leading Airline’.

Peter Baumgartner said: “I am thrilled to receive this great honour at the 2009 Aviation Business Awards and for Etihad to be recognised in this way.

“As a relatively young airline, we have a unique opportunity to create and implement a leading brand from scratch. Our company’s sales and marketing strategies are focused on challenging accepted industry standards at a time when the window of opportunity remains open.

Here we are about to leave London City Airport bound for New York’s JFK.

We recently tried out the new British Airways service between London City Airport and JFK New York. The trip experience was broadcast ”live’ as we crossed the Atlantic.

Along with regular updates and photographs during our trip to and from America, we were also able to converse with our ‘live’ followers, answer questions about the flight, aircraft, airline and airports and provide a constructive review of this new service.
